This one-owner 58cm Schwinn Paramount was hand-built in the legendary Schwinn factory in Waterford, Wisconsin. The striking candy apple red paint with bright yellow logos is in fairly good condition for a bike that was raced for several years in the 1990’s and then put in storage for many years. The bike has typical paint chips and scratches but no rust and was never crashed or bent. This beauty is fitted with full Shimano DuraAce 8-sp components, the best available at that time. Everything works perfectly. The wheels are built with outstanding and rare Wheelsmith Accelerator rims, Wheelsmith double-butted spokes and butter smooth DuraAce hubs with matching QR skewers. American Classics made the super light 27.2mm seat post. The tires are 23mm Continental GP4000s and the saddle is made by Selle Italia. Two unique and beautiful Elite bottle cages are included in this sale. Although I have updated the handlebar and stem to more modern Ritchey WCS components, the sale will also include the original parts, should you wish to restore it to period-correct condition. I can also offer extra cassettes of various size gears. As for the quality of the ride, it is fair to say that I never rode a quicker, stiffer or better handling steel bike than this one. Ride a legend! NOTE: I have been asked by several bidders if this frame was indeed manufactured in the USA. I just spoke with the Paramount factory in Wisconsin and the frame and fork were positively identified as having been hand-made in the USA. If a frame is called a PDG "series" bike it may have been made overseas. This one was not!
